PhysicsThe Department of Physics at the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad is the Vojvodina centre for university education and scientific research in all fields of physics.
The studies are conducted by the renown lecturers and associates in classrooms and laboratories equipped with the latest teaching tools, laboratory and scientific equipment, which definitely contributes to successfulness of teaching.
Chairs
Undergraduate (basic) academic studies
Qualifications after graduation: Graduate Professor of Physics or Graduate Physicist since there are four modules at the second study group: Research, Medical Physics, Physics – Meteorology, and Physics – Astronomy with Astrophysics. Master academic studies
Doctoral academic studies
Further professional upgrading in nuclear physics, materials physics, plasma physics, and theoretical condensed matter physics, as well as in methodology of teaching of all fields of science, including physics.
The students are enabled to stay at one of 18 European universities within the Students' Mobility Program Campus Europae, while the possibilities of students’ exchange are being expanded constantly with the introduction of new destinations.
Our students participate at international and national conferences, while the teaching and scientific staff of the Department is included in scientific-research projects of international, national, and local character within which the basic and applied research is conducted in the fields of both theoretical and experimental physics. For many years now the Department has been cherishing successful co-operation with the world laboratories, one of which is CERN – the largest European laboratory for research in nuclear physics and high energies physics.
Everyone takes part with a lot of energy and enthusiasm in the science promoting events (Festival of Science, Researchers’ Night, Fame Lab, etc.).
Opportunities after graduation
A physicists with academic education has got a wide range of opportunities to deal with his/her profession, such as in scientific and development institutes, or development department in many companies, in quality control, in aviation, medical industry, in all companies where measuring and development of measuring methods are necessary, astronomy observatories, planetariums, hospitals, schools, banks, meteorological observatories, environmental protection institutes, in public administration, in general in all segments of contemporary industry.
PROFESSIONAL STUDIES OF OPTOMETRYThe main purpose of optometry is eyesight correction and discovering of diseases that may capture human eye or visual system. Optometrists may examine the eye, discover a defect in eyesight, signs of injury, eye diseases or abnormality related to eyesight. Contemporary studies of optometry are based on fundamental sciences, optometric studies and practice and they are harmonised with European universities and standards. The classrooms are equipped with the latest teaching tools, laboratory and scientific equipment. Professional practice is an integral part of teaching process and a lot of time is devoted to it. Upon the completion of this study programme a student acquires the title of professional physicist – optometrist.
The lecturers are the leading experts from universities in Great Britain, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. There is the co-operation and partnership relation with the leading world companies in this field, such as Essilor, CIBA Vision, and Grand Seiko.
